July 20, 2007 - Greensboro, North Carolina
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill made an appearance yesterday in Greensboro, North Carolina for the stop of their Soul2Soul 2007 Tour.
The show started around 7:30pm with the opening act "Halfway To Hazard" which left the crowd a bit unenthusiastic and really wishing they would finish so the star act would start. At the end of their set, they revealed to the audience that Faith Hill would be appearing next but nothing about Tim McGraw - the man who everyone really came that night to see.
All of a sudden out of the stage on opposite ends rising out of the floor are Tim McGraw and Faith Hill in a perfectly executed opening that really set it off for the audience. After the 1st song, Faith Hill continued on with her set.
Faith's performance, yet good was nothing all that spectacular. Her voice was great but there were no costume changes. The crowd received her well but the general feeling toward the end was "hurry up and finish so Tim will come on" She made some passes on the sideline crowd but her contact with them seemed a bit brief and rushed. She did stay and talk to an elderly gentleman for about 30 seconds which really seemed to top off his intoxicated night. He said at the end he was going to go for a "Taxi" and Faith said that was the best news she heard all night.
Now Tim Mcgraw appeared (again with Faith - why don't they hurry up and finish with her??) behind a veil that covered the entire stage area. Finally this was finished and the crowd was ready to go. He performed several songs and the crowd was with him all the way. The man is a polished performer and really knew how to work the crowd. This was even more apparent by the slightly lackluster performance during the preceding set by Faith.
Toward the end of his set, Tim made alot of contact with the crowd - even going down into the crowd that circled the stage. It would have been nice to see this sort of thing by Faith, but she might have not really been into that - maybe would have messed up her hair???
At the end, Faith was back on stage in an attractive green dress and they did a couple of songs. After this, Tim, Faith and the band were back making contact with the crowd. One thing we noted was Faith came and grabbed Tim and pulled him off stage at the end - this is how they made their exit. He seemed a bit reluctant to go and this move probably could have been executed a bit better.
